2008-Sep-1 - Brasilia Architecture
Praia do Forte is 2 hours drive north of Salvador and reminded us of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland, to say the least, is very different from downtown Barra in Salvador. We do not have too Praia do Forte ... that others can be found on the beach, visit a beautiful little turtle sanctuatury, living in an overpriced dump and get a serious case of food poisoning.
We then took yet another 26 hour bus in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) where we spent 2 days walking around a research truly incredible city.
First, a history lesson of Wikipedia ... Returning to the 19th century, an Italian bishop named Dom Bosco had a dream in which he saw a large new civilization lie between 15th and 20th parallels. The dream became widely known in Brazil, and soon there was talk of moving the Brazilian capital to somewhere inside. Then, in response to a member random crowd the issue at a rally, presidential candidate Juscelino Kubitschek promised to create a new capital in this area as a method to develop the economy of Brazil far from the coast and as a symbol that Brazil would become in the future. After winning the election in 1957, JK began work immediately on capital and construction was completed in only 3 years (no doubt thanks to the 60000 people who slaved away at the end - eat your heart in Beijing !).
Brasilia is essentially the work of three men: Oscar Neimeyer (famous architect), Lúcio Costa (famous urban planner), and Burle Max (famous landscape architect). The city is described as a huge aircraft or other birds with the "aircraft wings" largely residential areas and the aircraft's fuselage "is the location for most of government and public buildings .
Brasilia was designed to accommodate a large number of vehicles and as such is absolutely not designed for pedestrians foot. So we jumped on a day of the city and were surprised by the random design of almost all buildings throughout the city. If nothing else, the nation's capital is certainly worth a visit for the novelty factor and see a city full of such interesting architecture. I guess the pictures speak for themselves ...

2008-Jan-26 - Wet in Rio
Well, we have finally and kicked the journey, but it was a difficult start. We are on a flight from Denmark cancelled due to the Bachelor of Smashing Heathrow flight the previous day, but fortunately we managed to get on the next flight with a free upgrade to business class. We were also delayed in both Heathrow and São Paulo, and when we finally arrived in Rio, and we bus disrupted in the middle of the road to the hotel .. Got there at the end despite.
We have impressions Rio whole, is that it is a very beautiful city with mountains exchanges with the city of highrises. The best place to see the city from the top of sugar or bread corcovado (Christ's faithful), where views are absolutely wonderful. We also took the metro to see the tomb of Brazilian football, the stadium maracana. It is still one of the biggest stadiums worlds, but not as much as ability in the days of old) was 200.000). Slums where quite visible on the other side of the stadium, so we had to watch our backs, but nothing had happened. Hear a lot about the rampant crime, etc., but we did not come through
Anything unpleasant, but you immediately notice that all the shops, offices and apartments all gates and bars protect large abroad and even Jewellers remove all items available in the shop window every night!
We live in one of the best parts of the city (ipanema), both from Cuba Cabana ipanema and beaches near the long streches with fine sand. Along the beach, you can enjoy views of new scenes and coconuts one of the countless stalls or simply check Volley teams practice on the beach.
It is unfortunate that the weather was not the best, and has had rain during the past two days, the temperature is only 20-22 degres, because we were not able to enjoy the beaches as much as we would like to .. Tomorrow we leave to go further to the south where we parati stay for 3 days .. We hope to sunlight slightly down here

2007-Oct-9 - Rio de Janeiro
The Brazilian ones are very proud of Rio de Janeiro. If proud that they believe the great man into high created the world in 6 days and really spent the totality of next just on Rio. They have each right to be proud, it is a city really of dizzy spell. Located on the edge of the compartment of Guanabara among various monticules of rock and collapsing wooded mountains it is a city to compete the Cape and Sydney for the normal beauty. To add to that the Brazilian spirit of part and we had the large spot for our cut of town of weekend.
But before we arrived to Rio, we had some other stopovers to make. After us to have left with the state of Bahia let us direct south on a lathe of the bus 18hr to the state of Rio, at the coast approximately 200km in the east of Rio itself. Still sharp to see beach as much that possible we packed in Cabo Fio, Arraial make Cabo and Buzios. Buzios is most famous of the latter, thus becoming in the Sixties where Brigitte Bardot was to wander repèré along sand with her Brazilian friend then. Since then this quiet village of fishing transformed itself into escape rather last cry. It seemed to be included/understood to select Buzios Have
Shame us weren´t the only one which wanted to check it outside!
the place to box inside my gift of birthday of m one harms in a hotel of imagination. Which change of the life of pension it was too. Summer gone have the divided bathrooms and inside came the thermal spa and the swimming pool giving on the compartment. We signed early and used all equipment fully possible. Well! It also meant that we appreciate a feast now, in holidays in the displacement of the world.

2007-Sep-17 - Brasil District
After it delays in Hotlanta for more than the hours 2wo finally I obtained in my plane shortly after midnight and I arrived in Santiago 930am approximately. The enthusiasm could not yet sleep in the plane and I watched the exit of the most amazing sun. Absolutely possibly one of most beautiful always, watching the sky to change of navy blue, to the blue one, red and then to the orange and still the sun had still to rise. They continued me to be absent blowing by when my plane (after some turbulance) she flew on Andean mountains. It was exactly how Ive imagined it to be and felt a number of emotions appearing of all the sides of me.
After a certain confusion (mainly because I do not speak any Spanish) it could obtain a stroll in a microbus to the Brazil District and find my inn. The most difficult part until now, in addition to the language, outside calculated towards this sample @ in the keyboard. And it sees of I “had to write this on often since the keys are different. Im extinguished to go finding a certain lunch and to continue exploring the city. Also a telephone of the cell will be in my future so I will let know my number as soon as to you can.

Much more there on the impressive landscape, the way this people lives the surprises each one with its simplicity, good will, hope, hospitality and happiness. But once they arrive here, they find such hospitality that soon is enchanted with the mixture of colors, races and cultures of people also.
